Biblical Steps to Persevere When Everything Seems to Be Going Wrong

When life feels heavy and everything seems to be going wrong, the Word of God gives us a clear path forward: **look to Jesus, trust His promises, endure trials by faith, and keep pressing toward the crown of life.**

Perseverance is not merely surviving hardship. It is learning to stand by faith when feelings, circumstances, and trials press against the soul.

1. Look to Jesus as Your Example

When your heart is weary, look first to Christ.

The Bible says:

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
— Hebrews 12:2

Jesus endured the cross, despised the shame, and remained faithful because His eyes were fixed on the joy set before Him. He is our pattern in suffering, patience, and victory.

2. Claim God’s Promise in Temptation

No trial comes without God’s knowledge. No temptation is stronger than His sustaining grace.

“God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able…”
 — 1 Corinthians 10:13

God measures every burden. He knows how to deliver His people, and He always provides strength to endure.

3. See Trials as Tools of Refinement

Trials are not meant to destroy the believer. They are used by God to purify faith and develop character.

“When he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”
 — Job 23:10

Hard seasons can produce patience, humility, trust, and heavenly-mindedness. What feels like loss may become the very place where God prepares the soul for greater glory.

4. Persevere Through Prayer and Diligence

Faith does not sit idle. Like Nehemiah, we are called to pray and work.

“Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch…”
 — Nehemiah 4:9

Perseverance requires prayer, effort, courage, and self-control. We must resist murmuring, guard the heart, and continue doing what is right even when the way is difficult.

5. Keep Your Eyes on the Final Crown

This life is a time of testing, preparation, and character development.

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”
— Revelation 14:12

God’s people are marked by endurance. They keep trusting, keep obeying, and keep believing until the end.

Final Encouragement

Dear friend, do not give up. The storm is not stronger than the Savior. The trial is not greater than His grace. Keep your eyes on Jesus, hold fast to His promises, and remember that the crown is waiting for those who endure.

By God’s grace, you can persevere.
